I have been hearing a lot about sleep problems being associated with Phentermine. Has anybody here had personal experiences with both Phentermine and not being able to fall asleep?

I guess I was lucky here, I have insomnia from most of my teen years and early adulthood. Now if I started to doze off, that might be some concern for me. It might depend on the persons diet too, some dont get proper anything and that throws the whole body out of wack.

It has not been a problem for me, at least yet. Have you heard anything about how far into taking the medication that this issue usually arises?

I hear that it is pretty much an immediate reaction, like within one day of actually taking it. The most frequent problems seem to be not being able to fall asleep, even if you are extremely tired. I do wonder if it's a reaction to certain diets?

It makes sense that it would, I mean the drug is a stimulant isn't it? I thought that was the mechanism of the drug.
That being the case, it could cause loss of sleep in the same way as caffeine does. |

I think that a lot of people would still be free of this side-effect. A lot of people are not effected by caffeine by way of their sleeping habits, I wonder what the percentage is of somebody not being effected versus the other way around.

They way some people work and work and never sleep proper now a days does not surprise me being no real issues. I know many that are half insomniacs and have no issues with the meds. I think it just effects us all a little different.

It's a shame that people aren't getting the sleep that most need to function properly, but at the same time, that's what happens when you lead a busy life. I just wonder about people who are used to getting a full 8 hours of sleep a night, and how Phentermine is effecting their sleeping habits.

You know, lack of sleep in and of itself can be a problem when it comes to gaining weight. The basic theory I think is that if you are awake the whole night then you keep eating through the whole night, and hence you consume too many calories. So sleep more-and lose weight!

Because everyone reacts differently to different types of medications there's no definite way to predict if you're predisposed to a side effect, unless of course you've taken a similar medication. Then it's a matter of degree.
The recommendation is to take this medication right before or not long after breakfast. If any of us have a decent meal and exercise routine (which I don't, but should) then hopefully by the time a reasonable bedtime rolls around we'll be able to calm down. I wonder if it's ok to drink chamommile tea with this med? That puts me right to sleep. If not, warm milk and honey is relaxing. So maybe that can get over the last hump of the night? |
