There are a lot of people who have a generally bad opinion of Phentermine. How do you deal with that? Has anybody said anything negative about your use of Phentermine?

Yes, I've heard negative things about Phentermine that had previously brought my interest in it to an end. I decided to reconsider when I heard about some benefits my friend was experiencing. I'm still in the researching stages of course, but despite the negativity surrounding it, I would like to find out more. I really don't let that stop me.

You know I just haven't mentioned to anyone that I am planning on taking it. Nor do I plan on doing so. People do not need to know my personal medical history-that's my business not theirs.

That's a good approach to take. I usually don't let anybody know when I'm taking certain meds, but with Phentermine I decided to let my parents know. They weren't happy after they did some research, but I wanted to let them know so that they could watch me.

I would definitely let somebody else know that I'm going to start taking Phentermine. I would want them to watch for signs of addiction, as well as other side-effects. I usually don't tell people what other meds I'm taking though.

The only issues I have ran across are those who mistake Phentermine for Phen-Fem, and then it becomes a long conversation/debate, who then we break out the laptop research and the other person goes "Oh oops".

I'm not exactly sure what Phen-Fem is. What is the difference between Phentermine and Phen-Fem? I think I've heard of it before but don't remember what it is.

I discussed my medication that I took some years back for depression (not now) and got a lot of grief for it. "You don't need that." "That medication is over-perscribed and abused by doctors and patients." And then listening to the long-winded opinions as if I'm not standing there.
So, no, I have not told anyone I just started. I have a list of emergency numbers and information up on my refrigerator, that includes my meds and doses...that's enough, at least for now. |

I can definitely see your point of view Penny. I've had my fair share of people sharing their opinions with me, but I just don't like the idea of how addictive Phentermine is, and I know that meds can put you in a different frame of mind. That's just what works for me though.

I know a lot of people that are on it and everyone has their preference of whether or not they want to let anyone know about it or not. Personally I walk around like a billboard advertising to whoever will listen to me babbling on and on, but I can definately understand being hesitant with the negative feedback that can come your way. I just let them know I am under the supervision of my doctor and that the Phen-Fen thing was a combination of two medications that were causing problems when taken at the same time. The other resolution I have found (when I am dealing with a skeptical type of person) is to refer to it as Adipex. Not many have heard of it by the brand name so it doesn't put up the red flag that phentermine does.
Hope this helps!
