Is it safe to drink any kind or amount of alcohol while you are taking Phentermine? Will doctors advise against a drink every now and then? What have been your personal experiences with Phentermine and alcohol?

Mixing alcohol with phentermine can increase it's side effects. I simply avoid alcohol altogether because of my health issues. For that very reason, it fails to do anything good for me.
A glass or two of wine is theoretically a good thing for your heart. But other research says the benefits do not outweigh the harm. While those who drink moderately to heavily have "clean arteries", the damage is to the rest of the body. (BBC News/Health 2005 article) The article goes on to say that light drinking for festive occasions does little harm, and is "good" for the heart. But because of my other health problems, I will forego the alcohol and make sure I don't smoke to help my heart. And get my large rear end physically active...at least that's the goal. |

Mixing meds with alcohol most times does intensify the effects for it. I know that sometimes Phentermine can sometimes cause euphoric episodes but I think that is pretty rare, though thinking of it now might be done when you end up mixing with alcohol or any other type of stimulate that would cause euphoria type reactions.

I hear that you should avoid alcohol while using Phentermine because it does increase and intensify the side effects that you experience, even adding on side effects you hadn't been experiencing before (while its in your system).

I didn't know that if you mix alcohol with stimulants that you can experience euphoric episodes, I guess I just haven't taken many stimulants. I didn't know about the side effects either. I guess it's definitely something to avoid for the most part, but one or two drinks probably won't have too much of an effect.

Most prescriptions (even antibiotics) will have a little label that shows they can intensify with the use of alcohol. My doctor when I was prescribed (first) Cymbalta (before the Prozac) had asked if I drank on a regular basis since Cymbalta can effect the liver (one reason I switched to Prozac besides the prices after insurance and that I do socially drink).
