I had a close friend ask me this, why of all the others out there did I choose Phentermine. It took a long time before I made my choice to use anything extra that was not herbal (something I am a stickler on), but this is one with less side effects than most others I researched. I talked it over with my own doctor a couple of consults later and we both decided this would be the best on the market for me right now. So what about the rest of you?

Wow LUCKY all I can say is I'm surprised your doc gave you a phentermine prescription... most people get denied cause their docs are afraid of higher malpractice insurance.

From what I know about Phentermine so far, I've learned that it really doesn't have that many side-effects in comparison to other medications I've seen. One of the only major issues I've seen is that it is addictive to some.

So Ian, why would prescribing the drug increase their malpractise insurance premiums? I know that on the whole premiums are rising, and when I was pregnant I had to pay extra to cover the insurance but I thought that was just OB/GYN.

It's schedule IV and more of a high risk drug compared to others... since people are so happy to blame a doctor, sue doctors, etc.. they're weary of issues like side effects and some people have allergic reactions to phentermine etc.. You can see more about the side effects of phentermine here:

I know that the state of TX passed some type of law that doesnt allow you to sue for malpractice. I guess I am in a good state with a good doctor and to count my blessings.

It seems to me that the side effects, with the exception of addiction, are just not too intense, even if they are numerous, in comparison to other appetite suppressants. |

From what I can see, it's a great medication if your condition can be helped in a short period of time (less than six months, if I rememember correctly), and if you don't become addicted.

I think that the point is that it really is one of the most effective appetite suppresants. I know that there are some problems but then there are also problems with being overweight, and you have to balance those out.
It's good that TX does not allow suing, I wish more were like that. |
